My First Self-Produced Show!
For my senior thesis project in Theatre, I chose to co-direct a one act play called Fish Kill on Maria Sanchez by Doug Grissom with my friend Jake. We both thought it was important to bring a show about interracial friends and the layers and dynamics involved to liberal arts college campus in 2019. I particularly wanted to challenge myself, so I took on the task of design as well directing and acting.
I designed and crafted everything you see here myself! From the lighting, to selection and grafting of the costumes, to the set pieces (including the flora and the stools and fishing rod sets). AND I made a fog machine using dry ice and other fun materials for spooky effect! My favorite parts are the texture on the ground coming from the gobo in the lights and the ominous silhouette of our Stranger character. I worked really hard to figure out how to cast him in shadow!
